Dear Parents,
We have the final amount for the St. Jude Mathathon. It is $1000.35! A special thanks to the students who participated in this project. You did a very good job, considering the economic situation throughout our country. This money will be used to help children with serious illnesses.
The second PTO Meeting of the year will be held Thursday, November 20, at 7:00 P.M. in the cafeteria. Middle school students will be available to work with the children while the parents are at the meeting. The 7th graders recently finished a Science project on genetics. They did an excellent job and some of them will give a presentation at the Meeting tomorrow night. Remember there will be a drawing for $500 for the 300 Club. Who will be the lucky person? Also, the class that has the highest percentage of parents in attendance will receive a uniform break. They and their teacher will choose the day together.
Monday, December 15, is the last day to order Scrip gift cards before the Christmas Break. Orders on that day need to be in the office by 9:00 A.M. Gift cards make great Christmas presents.
The 8th graders will be visiting Marion County Vocational School on Monday, November 24. Ms. Hamilton and Mrs. Sprowles will be accompanying them. This has become an annual event.
For a few years we have been recycling printer ink cartridges and getting payment for them. For the past several months, we have received very little money for the many cartridges we have recycled. In the beginning we received checks of $100-$150. The last check we received a couple of weeks ago was $8.50. When we asked the company what was happening, we found out that they have been getting rid of the cartridges themselves because it had become a hassle to send them to another company. So, for the time being, we are suspending accepting used ink cartridges. We will see if we can find another company that will recycle them. Thank you for your help in the past.
It seems the colder weather is finally here to stay. I have noticed this week that several of the students are still wearing shorts. That is fine, but they have grown since the new year started and the shorts are not long enough. According to the dress code in the handbook, the length shall be no shorter than one inch above the knee or shorter than three inches above the back of the knees. Some of the older girls are not in compliance with the dress code. Cooperation in this matter would be appreciated.
School will be in session only on Monday and Tuesday next week. We will have the special Thanksgiving Mass on Tuesday morning at 8:40. The Preschoolers will attend the Mass. We welcome them. Ms Hamilton and the students work very hard to prepare for this special Mass. All are welcome to come celebrate with us.
Thank you for your continued support.
